Pink Sapphire
Ceylon pink sapphire covers a wide register — from a pale shell pink that reads almost white in daylight, through to a saturated magenta that behaves like a ruby.
The colour comes from chromium, the same element that makes ruby red. Pink sapphire and ruby are the same mineral; the line between them is a matter of trade convention, not chemistry.
