Yellow Sapphire
Yellow sapphire is one of the few stones that looks warm in daylight without being brown. Ceylon material tends toward a clean lemon or a deep honey, with none of the greenish cast you get from Australian rough.
It is also one of the most affordable ways into a large, clean, untreated corundum — a 3 carat yellow will cost a fraction of a 3 carat blue of the same quality.
